About
I hold Master’s degree in International Relations from Qauid-e-Azam University, Islamabad; Bachelor of Laws with Honours from City University, London; Postgraduate Diploma in Bar Vocational Studies from the University of West of England, Bristol, UK; and Bar-at-Law from the Lincoln’s Inn. I have different courses and trainings to my credit including certificates in ‘Negotiations on Financial Transactions’ and ‘Alternate Dispute Resolution’, from United Nations Institute of Training and Research, ‘International Labour Standards Course for Judges and Lawyers’ from International Training Centre, Turin, Italy and ‘Certificate in Private International Law’ from The Hague Academy of International law, Netherlands. I had also the honour of representing Pakistan twice before United Nations’ Committee on the Child, Geneva. I have attended many international seminars and workshops.
Before joining the legal profession, I joined the District Management Group of the Civil Service of Pakistan in 1987 and underwent an extensive 18 months long training in Economics, Public Administration, District Administration, Local Government and Criminal, Revenue and Evidence Laws, at Civil Services Academy, Lahore, Pakistan. I resigned from the Service in 2002 to work for Human Rights and Rule of Law. My major books are: ‘Human Rights: Theory and Practice’ and 'The Way Forward" ; Presently, I am a Partner in Nashtar ans Zafar, a law firm, and specialize in Constitutional,Corporate laws and human rights. I am also teaching law, international relations and human rights since 1985.
